Apple October Event: Here’s what to expect

by Kyle Meranda

Is Apple holding an October event this year? That’s the question on everyone’s minds as we approach the end of the year. After Apple’s recent Wonderlust keynote, where the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9 were announced, many are wondering if the company has more in store for us this year. While nothing official has been announced yet, let’s take a look at Apple’s October events in past years to see if we can glean any insights.

In 2022, there was no October event, so it’s possible that Apple may not hold one this year. However, in 2021, Apple did hold an event on October 18 to introduce the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro, new AirPods, and new HomePod mini colors. In 2020, Apple held an event on October 13 to introduce the new iPhones and the HomePod mini. Then, in November, the company held a special event to announce its M1 chips. In 2019, there was no October event. In 2018, Apple held an event on October 30 to announce the new MacBook Air, Mac mini, and third-gen iPad Pro.

Based on this information, it seems that Apple usually holds events in October to announce new iPad and Mac models, which are two products we can expect the company to unveil soon. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who is known for his accurate predictions about Apple’s hardware plans, has said that Apple is working on new Macs for an October debut. Whether the company will hold an event or just share press releases is still unclear.

So what could Apple announce in October? According to Gurman, Apple is preparing several new Macs with the M3 chip, which could be revealed at the end of the year. Some possible models include a new M3 iMac, M3 13-inch MacBook Air, and M3 MacBook Pro. These Macs would be updates to existing models that were last updated earlier this year.

In addition to new Macs, there are also rumors of new iPads in the works. Gurman mentioned on a podcast that there is an iPad Air model with boosted specifications in the works, likely featuring the M2 chip. There are also reports of a new iPad mini coming later this year, although it’s unclear what changes this product may have.

Overall, while nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s highly likely that Apple will have some announcements to make in October. Whether it will be a full-fledged event or just press releases remains to be seen. Stay tuned for updates as we learn more about what Apple has in store for us this year.
