Chinese artists boycott big social media platform over AI-generated images

Artists in China are boycotting the social media platform Xiaohongshu over allegations that it used their work without permission to train its AI image generation tool. The controversy began when an artist known as Snow Fish discovered that her artwork had been used to train the AI tool, Trik AI, which specializes in generating digital art in the style of traditional Chinese paintings. Since then, several other artists have made similar complaints. Xiaohongshu and Trik AI have not commented on the allegations. The boycott reflects wider concerns among artists around the world regarding the use of AI in creative industries and the protection of intellectual property rights.
