Cyberpunk 2077 Players Can Lock Themselves Out of Phantom Liberty By Selecting Wrong Dialogue Option

by Norman Scott

Cyberpunk 2077 players need to be careful when playing the game’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, as they can quickly lock themselves out of it by choosing the wrong dialogue option. In the fourth main mission, called “Lucretia My Reflection,” players are presented with a decision that can have significant consequences for the expansion.

According to IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 Guide, the critical dialogue option comes when Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed asks the protagonist, V, if the mission is worth it. Choosing the option to walk away from the main campaign of Phantom Liberty will lock the expansion, leaving players unable to progress in it until they start a new game.

The repercussions of this decision are apparent in the game. The other characters start sweating, and even Johnny Silverhand warns V that this isn’t a bluff. If players choose to walk away, the job is marked as failed, and the player is told to leave.

While players can still explore the new Dog Town area and engage in side content like Gigs, the main quest of Phantom Liberty remains locked unless they start a new game. It’s essential to consider all the dialogue options and their consequences before making a decision.

Phantom Liberty arrived on September 26, following the game-changing Update 2.0. This update revamped Cyberpunk 2077 with features like a new perk system and improved AI. It also resolved the Elon Musk fan theory and included references to the late racing legend Ken Block. The expansion also delved deeper into the game’s biggest mystery.

These updates and the release of the expansion have caused a spike in Cyberpunk 2077’s popularity on Steam. Players have been eagerly diving into the new content provided by Phantom Liberty. For tips and tricks on navigating Dog Town and getting the most out of the expansion, players can refer to IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 guide.

IGN gave Phantom Liberty a 9/10 rating in their review of the expansion, stating that it completes an immense turnaround for CD Projekt Red’s future RPG, building on the success of the anime spin-off, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and the 2.0 Update.

It is crucial for players to make thoughtful decisions while playing the game’s expansion to avoid missing out on significant content and experiencing the full range of Phantom Liberty’s story and gameplay. Only by carefully considering the dialogue options and their consequences can players ensure they have a fulfilling experience with Cyberpunk 2077.
