The Pixel Watch 2 is set to be a major upgrade over its predecessor, offering advanced health features and improved user experience. Leaked promo videos have revealed the watch’s ability to measure heart rate, skin temperature, electrodermal activity, and stress levels, with the new sensor being more accurate than previous models. The wearable will also offer automatic workout detection for seven different activities, along with reminders to start and stop tracking. Users will be able to ask Google Assistant about their workout progress, similar to Siri on the Apple Watch Series 9.

A Safety Check feature will be included, allowing users to set a timer and do a check-in at the end. If this is missed, the wearer’s real-time location will be shared with emergency contacts, similar to iOS 17’s Check In option. The watch will also feature redesigned Fitbit workout interfaces and use Material You throughout the UI.

Battery life is expected to be 24 hours with a full charge taking around 75 minutes and a 50% top-up taking 30 minutes. The watch will reportedly use a more efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, allowing for more features instead of extending battery runtime.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel Watch 2 will be offered as a preorder gift with the Pixel 8 Pro, at least in the US. The Made by Google event is scheduled for October 4, and more information is expected to surface in the coming days. Overall, the Pixel Watch 2 seems to be a significant upgrade in terms of features and performance, making it an exciting option for consumers.
