Huawei unveils strategy to become computing and AI powerhouse for China, the World at Connect 2023

Chinese tech giant Huawei is aiming to become a global leader in AI-powered solutions. In a keynote address at the Huawei Connect event, Sabrina Meng, the company’s Deputy Chairwoman and CFO, highlighted the company’s commitment to developing AI technologies and building a computing “backbone” for China. Huawei has released a whitepaper titled “Accelerating Intelligent Transformation” and a reference architecture for driving intelligent transformation. The company aims to help industries harness the potential of AI and meet their diverse computing needs.

According to Meng, Huawei is interested in becoming “another option for the world,” indicating its ambition to attain global leadership. As AI gains prominence globally and continues to impact various industries, Huawei’s All Intelligence strategy is designed to help industries seize new strategic opportunities presented by AI. The company has also unveiled several new products and solutions as part of its AI strategy.

The Huawei Connect event is an annual flagship event where Huawei discloses innovative solutions. In previous events, Huawei has showcased its vision for an intelligent world and its goal of becoming one of the world’s five major cloud service providers. This year’s event, held in Shanghai, brought together business leaders, tech experts, partners, developers, and industry stakeholders from around the world to explore opportunities for an intelligent future.

At the event, Huawei announced the launch of the Atlas 900 SuperCluster, the latest addition to its Ascend series of computing products. The SuperCluster is optimized for training massive AI foundation models and can connect up to 2,250 nodes per cluster. Huawei has also released the Pangu AI model, which focuses on addressing specific customer needs in areas such as mining, government, vehicles, weather, medicine, virtual humans, and R&D. The Pangu model includes features like the Pangu Vehicle Model, which shortens the training cycle for autonomous driving systems.

Additionally, Huawei Cloud has introduced the Ascend AI cloud service, which is available for purchase on the Huawei Cloud website. The service allows users to migrate their AI frameworks smoothly and provides tools for end-to-end migration. Huawei Cloud is also working on dynamic innovation of its software and hardware structures to support the deployment of AI. The company aims to become the cloud provider of choice for the AI era.
