Google’s upcoming smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 2, is set to feature a thermometer and improvements to its Fitbit and Personal Safety integration, according to sources cited by 9to5Google. The Pixel Watch 2 will reportedly include an electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor for stress management and tracking, as well as a skin temperature sensor that allows users to check their skin temperature on demand and access past readings through the Fitbit mobile app. In addition, the device will bring improvements to the on-watch exercise UI, making it more cohesive with Google’s smartwatch style. The Personal Safety app on the Pixel Watch 2 is also set to receive upgrades, including the ability to work in tandem with the car crash detection feature available on Pixel phones and full support for emergency sharing with trusted contacts. The watch will also be able to schedule a Safety Check, a feature currently available on Pixel phones. Lastly, sources indicate that the Pixel Watch 2 will reintroduce translation features in the form of Google Assistant’s interpreter mode. These features, combined with an internal hardware upgrade, suggest that the Pixel Watch 2 will be a significant improvement over its predecessor. The device is expected to be unveiled on October 4.
