Apple Introduces New AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) with USB-C Charging Capabilities

Cupertino, California – In an exciting announcement today, Apple introduced the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging (USB‑C), further enhancing the world’s most popular headphones. These upgraded AirPods Pro continue to redefine personal audio, offering incredible sound quality, advanced noise cancellation, transparency mode, spatial audio, and an expanded range of ear tip sizes for a better fit. Additionally, the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) now come with USB‑C charging capabilities, improved dust resistance, and Lossless Audio with Apple Vision Pro. Paired with the latest iOS 17 update, all AirPods Pro users gain access to new features like Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness.

One of the major highlights of the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) is the addition of MagSafe Charging with USB‑C. This enables users to charge their Mac, iPad, AirPods, and iPhone 15 lineup using a single cable. Furthermore, users can now directly charge their AirPods using iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, all of which are equipped with a USB‑C connector.

In terms of durability, the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) feature an improved IP54 rating, offering additional dust resistance. This means users can confidently take them on their favorite rugged adventures without worrying about damage.

Another exciting addition to the AirPods Pro lineup is the introduction of Lossless Audio with Apple Vision Pro. This enables an ultra-low latency wireless audio experience, unlocking powerful 20-bit, 48 kHz Lossless Audio. When Apple Vision Pro becomes available next year, users will be able to enjoy the most advanced wireless audio experience for a wide range of activities like entertainment, gaming, and FaceTime calls.

With the release of iOS 17, all AirPods Pro (2nd generation) users gain access to new features and capabilities. These include Adaptive Audio, which dynamically blends Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation to adjust noise control based on the user’s environment. Conversation Awareness is another exciting addition that helps lower content volume, enhance voices, and reduce background noise when the user engages in a conversation.

In terms of sustainability, Apple has made significant efforts to minimize the environmental impact of the new AirPods Pro. The devices utilize 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 100 percent recycled gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards. The case is constructed using 100 percent recycled tin and 100 percent recycled aluminum, reducing the need for harmful substances like mercury, BFRs, PVC, and beryllium. Additionally, the redesigned packaging eliminates plastic wrap, with more than 90 percent of the packaging made from fiber-based materials.

Apple’s commitment to the environment extends beyond product design. The company is already carbon neutral for its global corporate operations and aims to achieve 100 percent carbon neutrality across its entire manufacturing supply chain and product life cycles by 2030. This means every Apple device, including the new AirPods Pro, will have a net-zero climate impact.

The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB‑C) will be available for order today, with availability in stores starting Friday, September 22. The retail price for the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) is $249 (U.S.). Apple is also offering the option to engrave AirPods Pro for free, allowing customers to personalize their devices.

Apple continues to lead the way in innovation and its dedication to leaving the world better than it found it. With the introduction of the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation), Apple sets the benchmark for true wireless audio experiences.
